Study of the use of Biomechanics-based Motion Analysis Techniques for Advanced Players in Football Clubs in Basra Governorate

Abstract

Football is globally recognized as the most popular sport, played by individuals of all ages and genders. Its development demands significant effort from players, coaches, and management, in addition to requiring adequate infrastructure. This study investigated the obstacles faced by football players in the Basra Governorate of southern Iraq. The research sample comprised 257 players from various football-oriented institutions, all of the players are adult. A questionnaire was distributed to a panel of football experts to identify the most critical impediments to training programs. These impediments included, but were not limited to, the insufficient application of biomechanical and analytical software. A key finding of the study is the notable absence of sports science principles in training regimens. Consequently, major recommendations include educating both coaches and players in biomechanics and motion analysis, establishing specialized development courses in this field, and investing in the necessary infrastructure for youth development programs.
