The Effect of Teaching According to David Ausbel’s Educational Theory on the Learning of Some Basic Attacking Volleyball Skills for Students

Abstract

The role of this theory in education is to clarify the relationship between teacher and learner. The goal is to understand and correctly apply the skills taught, as in teaching basic attacking volleyball skills. Considering this, the importance of this research lies in raising the level of education for basic attacking volleyball skills according to a scientific theory that explains the role of education and encourages learners and teachers to learn correctly, understand the material, and apply it. This goal of using such a theory is to provide a correct picture of teaching basic attacking volleyball skills. The research problem is that the basic attacking volleyball skills education level is weak, and this requires the application of a scientific theory that addresses the problem and raises the level of education. Here, we find that David Ausbel's theory is one of the successful theories in providing an explanation of the cognitive aspect and improving both memory and learning by constructing and using frameworks to organize and store information in a coherent and logical manner, which is in itself required in teaching basic attacking volleyball skills. The research objective was to identify the effect of teaching according to David Ausbel's educational theory on students’ learning of some basic attacking volleyball skills. An experimental approach was used, and the research sample was first-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra. After applying the theory, the most important conclusions were reached: Teaching according to David Ausbel’s educational theory provided a clear picture of its scientific application and raised the level of learning of some basic attacking volleyball skills for students.
