Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of a neuromuscular rehabilitation program employing assistive tools on restoring shoulder range of motion and muscle strength in combat sport athletes suffering from partial tears of the rotator cuff. The researcher adopted the experimental method using a one-group pre–post test design on a purposive sample of seven athletes diagnosed with partial shoulder injuries, confirmed clinically and through MRI imaging by a specialized medical team. The rehabilitation program extended for eight weeks, with three sessions per week, and included diverse neuromuscular exercises utilizing assistive tools such as resistance bands, medicine balls, and balance boards. The program followed a progressive approach in resistance intensity, transitioning from isometric to dynamic exercises. Measurements included shoulder range of motion in seven directions and rotator cuff muscle strength across six functional movements, assessed using a goniometer and digital dynamometer. The results revealed statistically significant improvements in all variables in favor of the post-test measurements, indicating clear gains in range of motion and muscle strength following program application. These improvements are attributed to the effectiveness of neuromuscular exercises that relied on progressive resistance, proprioceptive activation, and enhanced neuromuscular coordination of the injured joint. The study concludes that the neuromuscular rehabilitation program using assistive tools is an effective and safe approach for rehabilitating partial rotator cuff tears and contributes to restoring joint function and improving motor performance in combat athletes. The researcher recommends adopting such programs in rehabilitation and physiotherapy centers and emphasizes the necessity of incorporating proprioception and balance training in rehabilitation phases for injured athletes
