Response Speed and Its Relationship to Leadership Activities among Advanced Scouts in Secondary Schools in Basra City Center

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of response speed among advanced scouts and the level of their performance in pioneering tasks, as well as to examine the relationship between these two variables. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher adopted the descriptive method using both survey and correlational approaches. The research sample consisted of advanced scouts in scouting teams in secondary schools in the center of Basra Governorate and was selected intentionally under the supervision of physical education teachers. The researcher also constructed two scales to measure the study variables: a response speed scale and a pioneering performance scale, and their validity and reliability were verified.

The results indicated that the level of response speed among advanced scouts was at a moderate level, while the level of pioneering performance was at a good level among most participants. The findings also revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between response speed and pioneering performance. This indicates that advanced scouts who possess higher response speed are more capable of performing leadership and organizational tasks effectively during scouting activities.

These results highlight the importance of developing response speed skills among advanced scouts, as they play an essential role in improving their performance in pioneering and scouting activities.
