Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of using specific exercises on selected physical abilities among male participants aged (30–40 years) in fitness centers in Baghdad. The researchers employed an experimental design using a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. The study sample consisted of (34) participants from Al-Adhamiya Gym, selected purposively.

The physical abilities examined included muscular strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, and agility. These variables were assessed using standardized physical fitness tests. The training program was implemented over a period of six weeks, with three training sessions per week. Training intensity was prescribed and regulated according to the nature of each physical ability.

The results revealed statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test measurements in favor of the post-test in all selected physical abilities, indicating the effectiveness of the specific exercise program in improving the physical performance level of the participants.

The researchers concluded that the use of structured specific exercises contributes positively to the development of physical abilities among gym participants. They recommended adopting scientifically designed training programs based on proper load prescription and conducting regular fitness assessments within fitness centers.
