Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to standardize the defense against jump shooting test for youth basketball players, due to its importance and impact, and the lack of a comprehensive guideline available to our coaches for evaluating the performance of this crucial defensive skill. The researcher found that there is a weakness in the execution of this skill among youth basketball players, and noticeable variation in defensive abilities, as observed through continuous field monitoring during the youth basketball league. The researcher employed a descriptive survey method, given its suitability to the research problem. As for the research sample, it consisted of (98) youth basketball players participating in the basketball league for the season (2022-2023). The researcher used the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyze the results. The findings indicated a clear weakness in the performance of the defense against jump shooting test for youth basketball players, based on the establishment of standard scores and levels for the relevant tests. The researcher recommended that coaches rely on these scores and levels when assessing the defensive aspects of youth basketball players.
