Employing the Van Hiel method in learning the skill of chest handling in basketball for middle school students

Abstract

       The study aimed to prepare teaching plans that employ the Van Hiele method in learning the skill of chest handling in basketball, and to identify its impact on the learning of middle school students. The researchers assumed that there is an effect of the Van Hiele method in performing the skill of chest handling in basketball for first-year middle school students, and there are statistical differences. For the benefit of the experimental group, the researchers used the experimental method in the manner of two equal groups, and the researchers defined their research population as Brier Middle School students from the first intermediate grade, numbering (137) students, and they determined the study sample from the two divisions (A-B), where their number reached (68) students and their percentage ( 49.63% of the total first grade students, who were divided into two experimental and control groups, represented by (30) students for each group and (8) students for the exploratory experiment. The researchers concluded that using the Van Hiel method has an impact on learning the skill of thoracic handling. The researchers came up with several recommendations, including the necessity of using a modern method in .physical education lessons and moving away from the traditional methods used
